Thoughts Become Things
Wellness: Physical & Mental Care
Taking care of your mind is the best defense against anything that may impact your mental wellbeing. Along with maintaining your physical wellness will impact how well you can use a space to its fullest potential.
Wellness: Comfort
Every design for a singular person or an entire group should be tailored to them, so that they feel comfortable and can use the space to its full potential. A few key areas to establishing a comfortable environment is; workflow, ergonomics, and division of space.
Wellness: Acoustics
Being quiet and listening to you breathing can be very therapeutic, but what happens when you can’t hear yourself think over too much background noise.
Wellness: Air Quality
In our exploration of Biophilia, we've highlighted the importance of natural ventilation for our well-being. Beyond the immediate benefit of easier breathing, air quality plays a crucial role in maintaining our health. Improved air quality means fewer allergens and pollutants entering our bodies with each breath—a critical consideration as we spend up to 90% of our time indoors.
Wellness: Lighting Design
Top-down lighting design generally looks at three types of lighting; ambient, accent, and task lighting. Each serves its own role especially when you are setting up different types of spaces. Simply, ambient light provides an even light level within a space so you can navigate and use the space, accent lighting highlight important areas like a specific piece of art, and task lighting provides a focused practical light on areas with an intended function.
Wellness: Biophilia
We have an innate need for nature in our lives, and satisfying this desire has many benefits to our mental, social, physical, and spiritual wellbeing. Biophilia or Biophilic design is the process and application of nature and natural orders into design that can boost and support our health and wellness.

And now that many of us have been working from home for months on end, we are seeing the flaws in our routines, homes, and set ups that are undermining not only our productivity and relaxation but our wellness too. And, just like many of you, we are very conscious about how to get the best out of our spaces by maximizing the wellness benefits available to us.
